Wildwood will be celebrating its sixth annual African-American Read-In on Tuesday, February 5th, as a joyous way to kick-off Black History Month. The African American Read-In Day was started by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) in 1990. It is a means of recognizing and becoming more familiar with the stories, books and poetry of African-American authors. Guest readers, such as community members, parents, extended family members, and older students are invited into each classroom on this day to read a favorite book written by an African-American author. All families are invited to an all-school Assembly, which will include presentations by our students, to launch the day at 9:10 AM on Tuesday, February 5th.
