The Bombazo/Fundraiser for Puerto Rico is Sunday Dec. 17 from 3-7:30 at the ARHS auditorium. 3-5 is a Bomba jam where the Conjunto teaches the songs, rhythms, and dances to whoever wants to learn. Everyone brings a dish to share. 5-5:30 is dinner. From 5:45 to 7:30 we will have performances by local professional groups that feature Puerto Rican music and dance including Traditiones and the Gonzales Family Band. All are welcome.
Additionally, Unidos por Puerto Rico is collecting goods to send to families that are STILL in need after Hurricane Maria’s devastation. We’re placing a box on the front hallway so that everyone in the ARHS community can help us help them by donating high-need items, such as:
-First aid kits
-Regular flashlights and batteries
-Water purification filters (especially backpacking, “Sawyer” brand)
-Solar-powered anything – batteries, phone chargers, radios, etc
You might be thinking, “Why should we care?” Simple answer: Because they’re just as human as we are. So, what can be better than for us to put our energies together to help? Please donate!
