Jones Library: Vacation week programs 2/20-25

We hope you enjoy this special edition of Jones Library News, which highlights all the fun programs and activities taking place at the library next week during school vacation week.  The regular weekly edition will come out on Saturday, as usual!

Bilingual Story Time En Español!
Tuesday, February 21 from 2 – 2:45 pm

This bilingual story time in English and Spanish features stories, songs, and activities designed to introduce preschool-aged students to new vocabulary and concepts. In February, we will be learning about penguins. Seven species of penguin live in South America!
Join us in the Kids Room!

Movie Matinee:
Surf’s Up 2: Wave Mania

Tuesday, February 21 from  3 – 4:30 pm
A crew of surfing penguins team up to find a secret spot with great waves. Hang ten!
Join us for the feature film in the Woodbury Room.
Film is rated PG.

The Enchanted Circle Theater Presents: Reading Alive!

Wednesday, February 22 from 10:30 – 11:30 am
In this interactive presentation, Enchanted Circle Theater makes words jump off the page and the stories of Arnold Lobel  (Frog and Toad Are Friends) come to life through dramatic readings and theater games!  This program is recommended for kids preschool – 3rd grade and their caregivers.

Lego Club

Wednesday, February 22 from 3:30 – 5 pm

Kids ages 6 – 10 are invited to join us in the Woodbury Room for some Lego fun!  Come work solo or with a team! Create something from your imagination or be inspired by our monthly theme.

Annual Kids’ Library Tea Party

Thursday, February 23 from 2 – 3:30 pm
Bring your favorite doll or stuffed animal to the library for our annual tea-party! This fancy affair will include stories, crafts, games, and tea time.

Teen Lounge & Laser Tag

Friday, February 24 from 3 – 5 pm
Friday, February 24 from 5:30 – 6:30 pm

Teens 11 – 17 are invited to attend our regular Friday Teen Lounge in the Woodbury for fun with friends in the afternoon.
Then join your friends for several games of Spaceships and Laser Beams as you run around our “arena” either in group play, or solo play.

This is an after library hours event.  Patrons should use the back entrance – through the garden – to enter and exit Laser Tag.

Teen Book Club

Saturday, February 25 from 1 – 2 pm
Teens ages 11-17 are invited to join us for a discussion of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, followed by snacks and a craft.

Teen Craft Program

Saturday, February 25 from 2 – 3 pm
Join us for a Loom Weaving craft following Teen Book Club.  (You do not have to participate in book club to participate in crafting club.) All materials will be provided.  For teens ages 11 – 17.
