Master class in jazz (4/28)

On Thursday, April 28th the renowned jazz band “Jeremy Turgeon Quintet” (featuring Wildwood’s own Mtali Banda on saxophone) will be giving a master class in jazz to the 4th and 3rd grade students in the music room at Wildwood. In February, JTQ gave the same masterclass for the 5th and 6th grades capping off their study of influential black musicians such as John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Sam Cook.  The first master class turned out to be such a success that the band agreed to come back to share their art with the 3rd and 4th grade.

Slightly different than a concert, a Master Class is designed at teaching students the elements of jazz music, as well as enabling them to actually get a chance to play.  Families are welcomed and encouraged to come take part in this experience. The 3rd grade class will run from 9:50-10:30 and 4th grade will run from 10:40-11:20.

Here is a preview of what you will see when JTQ comes by to play!
