Hey parents — If you have expired, unwanted, or extra prescriptions — get rid of them this Saturday at Wildwood. Kids often get into medicines, and in the US alone, 60,000 kids have to go to the emergency room every year because of accidental overdoses. (WebMD, 2011) Amherst lets you drop off materials at the police department, but they’ve also set up a drop-off spot at Wildwood this Saturday. More info at the town website.
Prescription Drug Take Back Day
The Hampshire/Franklin TRIAD program, Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, Hampshire and Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Opioid Abuse Task Forces, local Health and Police Departments and a number of community partners are working with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in organizing the next Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, September 26, 2015.
Communities from Hampshire and Franklin counties are participating. In Amherst, you can bring your unwanted prescription drugs to the Wildwood Elementary School, 71 Strong Street, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It is anonymous and medications can be in their original containers. We cannot accept needles, syringes, lancets, thermometers, IV bags, chemo drugs or liquids of any type.
This is not a school-sponsored event.
