In December, the Amherst Survival Center (ASC) Food Pantry is providing families with school-age children (ages 5-17), who live with them, with a “Kids Winter School Vacation BOOST” – extra food for each school-age child in their household. Families can get food from Dec 26-Jan 2.

Families are welcome to register for the Food Pantry at any time, and they can come to the ASC for their monthly distribution at any time, but the “BOOST” means extra food for each school-age child during school vacations. Families must provide proof of residence and proof that the children are living in the same location with them (school record, etc).More info about the Food Pantry can be found at http://amherstsurvival.org/food-pantry/ .

The ASC Food Pantry provided a summer BOOST for families in July and August. It was a huge success and made a big difference in the lives of many families in our community. ASC provided this BOOST in the summer to address the meals gap caused by the loss of school-based meals benefit during summer vacation. It seemed appropriate to apply this rationale to every month that includes a scheduled ARPS school vacation. So, as a pilot program, ASC is offering a School Vacation BOOST in December, February, April, and July and August.
