September 27-28 will be an opportunity for Amherst residents to rid their homes of toxic and dangerous material. There will be an unwanted drug collection on Saturday and Amherst’s annual Hazardous Household Waste (HHW) collection event on Sunday.
Drug Take-Back Info
On Saturday 9/27, a Free Drug Collection Day will take place at Wildwood Elementary School. This event is held despite the fact that we have a permanent drug drop off box in the lobby of the Amherst Police Station. No registration is needed for the 9/27 event, which is a no questions asked, drive–up and drop–off event sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration and other government and community partners. Direct questions about the Saturday event to Captain Gunderson in the Police Department.
Hazardous Household Waste Info
On Sunday 9/28, Residents of Amherst, Hadley and Shutesbury (awaiting confirmation from Pelham) are welcome to participate in the HHW event. On-line registration is now open via the Town website. Register by September 24. For more event details: click here
